DescriptionBetween Thomas Wearg of the University of Oxford, barber, administrator of the estate of Fanshaw Wearg, late of the University of Oxford, gentleman, deceased; John Knibb of the City of Oxford, upholsterer; the Reverend Henry Parsons of Farnborough, clerk; and Robert Davis of Farnborough, yeoman. In an indenture of 7 May 1724 [see CR0457/27/6] John Knibb morgaged three closes of pasture in Farnborough, containing 14 acres 1 rood 20 perches, called Hemlocke, previously occupied by Joseph Knibb, deceased, to Fanshaw Wearg for £150. Fanshaw Wearg died but the mortgage remained unpaid, but Henry Parsons agreed to purchase the premises for £430 and the remainder of the mortgage term of 1000 years is then assigned to Robert Davis. Henry Parsons pays £176 5s to Thomas Wearg to repay the £150 mortgage plus interest. This payment was made out of the £430 paid to Joseph Knibb by Henry Parsons in an indenture of 4 May 1728 [see CR0457/27/8].
