TitleDistrict Medical Officer
DescriptionAs Unions were generally too big an area to be covered by a single medical practitioner they were divided into several districts, each of which employed a District Medical Officer whose duty it was to attend to all poor persons requiring medical attendance within the District of the Union assigned to him.
The District Medical Officer relief books give details on the name of the pauper with age, address and the nature of their disease/illness, etc including a weekly record of their present state or termination of their case.
