Date13th November, 1471
DescriptionEdward etc., to the Sheriff of Warr' greeting: it is commanded to Thomas Bellers that without delay he returns to Richard Boughton, the manor of Brouneswaver etc., which he claims to be his right and inheritance, and complains that Thomas has unjustly dispossessed him of it. And if this is not done, and Richard's claim secured, then the aforesaid Thomas is summoned to the Court of our justices at Westminster, on the morrow of All Souls, to show why he has not done so. Witness etc., Westminster 14th October 11 Edward IV. William Bosewell, chief lord of that fee returned it to us, and the writ was endorsed by the following witnesses: John Hime, Richard Frere, Simon Mountford, knight, Sheriff, John Hèrt, Richard Graunt. And the tenor of the plea on the aforesaid writ was as follows: Pleas at Westminster in the Court of Thomas Bryan and his fellow justices of the lord King's Bench, in the Michaelmas term, 11 Edward IV on the 136th Roll for Warwickshire: Richard Boughton, by Edward Wystowe his attorney, seeks against Thomas Bellers, the manor of Brouneswaver etc., his right and inheritance by writ of Right, because William Bosewell, the chief lord of that fee returned it to the King's Court. And whence Richard says he himself was seized of those premises. And Thomas by Thomas Stokley his attorney, came and defended his right, and vouched to warranty Robert Kyne, who was present in the Court; Richard imparled with Robert, who then did not return to Court, so judgment went by default to Richard at whose request this exemplification is made. 13th November, 11 Edward IV. Cumberford.
