Description | Award by Thomas Thorneton of Newnham and Thomas Chamberlayne of Plumpton in the county of Northampton, gents., in a dispute between Henry Clarke, vicar of Lemington Pryours, clerk, and Richard Wylles of Nowbolde in the same parish, gent., touching the payment of tithes on the lands of Richard in the lordship, liberties or fields of Newbold, commonly called Cleyfield and Lackbridge. The arbitrators find that Richard and his predecessors have always paid 8s. a year only in composition for all tithes, together with Easter dues of a 'garden penye' and a 'smooke penye', and order that these payments shall be made henceforth in lieu of all manner of tithes. At the request of the said Henry, who has a very great want of furzes for his necessary use of 'brueing and backinge', they also award and order that if Richard in any year has furzes growing at Newbold to the quantity of 300 fagots above his own needs, he shall deliver 300 fagots to the vicarge at Leamington in lieu of the said 8s., while Henry remains vicar of Leamington. They also order that if Richard does not have sufficient furzes, he is to carry furzes from within the grounds of John Camden or within three miles of Leamington, to the vicarage. 10 September, 35 Elizabeth. Two tags with the seals of Thomas Thorneton and Thomas Chamberlayne attached. |
