DescriptionPre-nuptial settlement between Thomas Ireson the elder of Lilbourne, grazier of the first part, Jonathan Phillips of Catthorpe, Leicestershire, yeoman of the second part, Thomas Ireson the younger of Lilbourne, grazier (son and heir apparent of Thomas Ireson the elder of the third part), Elizabeth Phillips of Catthorpe spinster (one of the daughters of the said Jonathan Phillips) of the fourth part and John Ireson of Woolscott, grazier and John Phillips of Broughton Astley, Leicestershire, yeoman of the fifth part.
Jonathan Philips promises to pay £300 to Thomas Ireson the younger within two months of the marriage of Thomas Ireson the younger and Elizabeth Phillips. John Phillips and John Ireson pay 10s each to Thomas Ireson the elder and he conveys to them a piece of ground called the Foddering Yard which used to have a messuage standing on it, an adjoining close and orchard called Lammas Close containing 1 1/2 acres and Sheep Close containing 7 acres, all of which are in Lilbourne and currently in the tenure of Thomas Ireson the younger. The property is to be held by John Phillips and John Ireson in trust for Thomas Ireson the elder until the marriage takes place. After the marriage the property is to be held in trust for Thomas Ireson the younger during his lifetime and after his death in trust for Elizabeth his intended wife. After the deaths of both of them the property is to be held in trust for their children, or if they have no children, to the use of the heirs and assigns of Thomas Ireson the younger forever.
