Description | The leasehold property being a messuage, garden and the moiety of Nether Close and the freehold 2 cottages and Calves close, (1743-1821), 1824. The leasehold property formed the post-nuptial settlement of Edward Roberts and Mary his wife, daughter of Richard Yardley in 1743 and was afterwards assigned to Jonathan Ledbrooke in 1757 and to R Holloway, C Wyatt and J Heydon in 1811. The freehold property was sold by Thomas Worrall to Robert Hartwell in 1746; Hartwell's devisees sold it to William Rainbow in 1777, who in 1811 sold it to Richard Holloway, Charles Wyatt and John Heydon. William Ledbrooke bought the property in Feb 1825 and later that year, in November, sold it to William Whorrall. The bundle contains the wills of Edward Roberts of Knightcote, farmer, proved 1765, William Roberts of Southam, shoemaker, proved 1810, Robert Hartwell late of Knightcote now of Grimscote, made 1776; extracts from the wills of John Heydon of Banbury, baker, proved 1819, of Charles Wyatt of Banbury esq., proved 1822 and of Richard Holloway late of Arlescote, proved 1822; copy burial certificates for these three men, extracted in 1825; letters of administration of William Baylis of Northend, yeoman, 1825, and notes of the date of burials of John Baylis (1768) and Sarah Hartwell (1773) and of the birth of Mary, daughter of Richard and Elizabeth Roberts, 1788. |
