| Description | On 10 December 1982, an explosion occurred in the Warwickshire Thick Seam Development Heading of the South West 6's District after a spontaneous heating developed rapidly and attempts to reverse the auxiliary ventilation system failed. Twenty-six men were injured, eight of whom were seriously injured. Some of the casualties were Mines Rescue personnel who had been called to assist with the fire fighting operations. |
